Step by step to start the practice
- Choose a suitable place: OM Chanting takes place in a group, so you should join an OM Chanting Circle. This can take place in spaces organized for this purpose or in groups that meet in pleasant and comfortable environments where everyone can concentrate. This is the case with the OM Chanting Circle that I coordinate in Alpharetta, GA - USA;
- Posture and environment: sit comfortably with your spine erect but relaxed and your feet firmly on the floor. The idea is to ensure that the posture favors the fluidity of the breath and allows the energy of the practice to circulate freely;
- Prepare yourself before the practice: although OM Chanting is not a meditation, it is important to arrive with a calm and relaxed mind. Take a few deep breaths before starting the practice to calm your thoughts and prepare your body for the activity;
- Chant “OM” as a group: when taking part in the OM Chanting Circle, all the members chant the sound “OM” softly and continuously, allowing the vibration of the sound to fill the room and their bodies. Concentrate on the energy shared with the group, feeling the healing waves propagating from the “OM” vibration;
- Regular practice: as OM Chanting is done in a group, it is difficult to practice daily. However, there are more than 1,500 groups spreading the positive energies of OM around the world through a program called “Cities of Light”.
