Throughout my journey of more than 40 years in holistic and esoteric studies, I have discovered in the psalms, especially the psalms of protection, a powerful tool to strengthen faith, bring security and renew hope, especially in difficult times.
I want to share with you some of this wisdom that has transformed my life and can transform yours too!
What are the psalms and why are they so special?
What are the psalms anyway? They are inexhaustible sources of spirituality.
Composed over 3,000 years ago, these 150 prayers and songs form one of the most iconic books in the Bible: the Book of Psalms. Each psalm carries a unique message that transcends cultures and eras, addressing universal feelings such as joy, sadness, fear and gratitude.
What makes them so special is the way they manage to translate human emotions with depth and simplicity. Written in the form of poetry, the book is largely attributed to King David, although other authors have also contributed.
In practice, the psalms are used both individually and in religious celebrations, serving as spiritual guides and sources of inspiration.
For me, the psalms are like bridges that connect us to the divine. They are not just words; they are living prayers, capable of transforming the energy around us and within us.
Over the centuries, people of different beliefs and backgrounds have found spiritual refuge in them, reinforcing their faith and reviving their hope.
The psalms are not just sacred texts. They are powerful tools for reflection and spiritual growth, which continue to have a profound impact on our lives today.
The power of the psalms in times of trouble
Moments of difficulty are inevitable, but it is precisely during these times that the psalms show their true power. They invite us to slow down, take a deep breath and connect with something greater.
Who hasn't read Psalm 91 and felt that immediate comfort? It's as if its words envelop us in a spiritual embrace, renewing our strength to face challenges.
The psalms are instruments of transformation. By reciting them, we access an inner strength that helps us overcome fears, anxieties and uncertainties. This practice reminds us that we are not alone, and this realization strengthens faith and renews hope.
In my course, “The Transforming Power of the Psalms”, I discuss how these sacred words act on our spirituality. The intention when praying a psalm is essential: when we align our mind and heart with the words, the power of prayer is enhanced.
Moreover, the simple act of reciting a psalm creates a connection with millions of people who have done the same over the centuries, forming an egregore of protection and spiritual empowerment.
In difficult times, the psalms are a refuge, an inexhaustible source of courage and serenity. They remind us that, with faith, we can overcome any challenge.
Psalm 91: a haven of protection and peace
Psalm 91, known as the “Psalm of Protection”, is one of the most popular. Its words have been a constant source of confidence and support throughout the centuries.
It is one of the most recited psalms, especially in times of uncertainty, fear or danger, offering a sense of security and tranquility.
Its verses carry an energy of unparalleled security.
Who hasn't been moved when they hear: “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall rest in the shade of the Almighty”? This phrase reminds us that there is a sacred place where we can seek refuge, regardless of the storms of life.
Another remarkable passage is: “A thousand will fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, but you will not be struck down”. It reaffirms divine protection, even when everything around us seems to be falling apart.
In Psalm 91, we find not only words of consolation, but also an invitation to strengthen our faith and fully trust in God.
Other psalms of protection to strengthen spirituality
In addition to Psalm 91, there are other equally powerful psalms for those seeking protection and spiritual strength.
Psalm 23
One of the most beloved is Psalm 23, which begins with the famous phrase: “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want”. This psalm guides us through the certainty that we are being cared for by a divine shepherd, even in times of darkness.
The phrase “Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil” is a reminder of God's constant protection.
Psalm 27
Another deeply inspiring psalm is Psalm 27, which declares: “The Lord is my light and my salvation; of whom shall I be afraid?”. It encourages us to face adversity with courage, trusting in God's support in every situation.
Psalm 121
Psalm 121 is also worth mentioning. It begins with a question that resonates deeply: “I lift up my eyes to the mountains: where does my help come from?” The answer is clear and comforting: “My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth”.
This psalm is ideal for those seeking security in times of doubt.
In the course, in addition to exploring the practical application of the psalms, I teach you how to integrate them into your spiritual routine. Whether seeking protection, strength or serenity, these prayers are powerful tools that connect us with divine wisdom.
How the prayer and the psalms go together in spirituality
Prayer is one of the purest and most powerful ways of connecting with the divine, and the psalms work as a perfect complement to this practice.
While prayer allows us to express our feelings, desires and thanks, the psalms offer us words that are already impregnated with spiritual wisdom, often translating what we are not able to verbalize.
The psalms are not just ancient texts, but universal prayers that reflect human emotions at their core. Joy, fear, gratitude, sadness, hope - all of these are present in them.
When we recite a psalm in prayer, we join an immense spiritual egregore formed by people around the world, amplifying and strengthening our connection with God.
This combination is powerful because it enhances both the depth and the intention of the prayer. The structure I teach in my course, with the opening, recitation of the psalm and closing, strengthens this connection even more.
This practice helps us to cultivate a richer and more conscious spirituality, bringing balance and peace to the mind and heart. After all, when we unite the power of the words of the psalms with the intention of prayer, we find a safe way to get closer to the divine.
Daily practices to incorporate the psalms into one's routine
Incorporating the psalms into everyday life is simpler than it sounds and can transform one's routine into a moment of spiritual connection.
A powerful way to start is by reading a psalm in the morning. Choose one that resonates with your intentions for the day and recite it in a quiet place, preparing your mind and heart for the challenges ahead.
Another practice is to use the psalms during moments of meditation. After a few minutes in silence, recite a psalm aloud or mentally, letting its words echo within you. This technique is especially effective for bringing clarity and serenity.
Furthermore, you can share the psalms with friends and family. Whether you send a message or read them together at special gatherings, this exchange strengthens not only spiritual bonds, but also personal relationships.
In the course, I teach how to create a practical and efficient routine, integrating the psalms naturally into everyday life.
Whether it's to start the day with gratitude, seek protection at night or find strength in difficult times, the psalms are tools that can enrich your spirituality and bring more purpose to your life.
Psalms and spirituality: a link between faith and resilience
Each psalm carries with it a message of courage, hope and renewal, capable of strengthening our faith even in the most difficult situations.
When we face moments of uncertainty, the psalms offer us words that translate what we feel and connect us with something greater. They teach us how to turn pain into learning, fear into trust and loneliness into an opportunity for communion with the divine.
This practice also develops our emotional resilience. By reciting a psalm, we strengthen our ability to face adversity with calm and balance.
In the end, they not only bring us closer to God, but also help us to find strength within ourselves, creating a link between spirituality and personal overcoming.
